Production and Quality Control of MIFARE Ultralight C Cards

Production Process:

  1. Material Selection:
    • High-quality photo-standard PVC/PET material is chosen for its durability and print quality.
    • The materials must conform to standards for card production to ensure consistency and reliability.
  2. Lamination:
    • The material sheets are laminated with multiple layers to enhance durability.
    • Embedding the antenna and MIFARE Ultralight C chip during the lamination process ensures seamless integration.
  3. Chip Embedding:
    • The MIFARE Ultralight C contactless IC, known for its 3DES cryptographic standard, is precisely embedded into the card.
    • The embedding process involves ensuring the chip aligns with the antenna for optimal performance.
  4. Cutting:
    • Laminated material is cut into standard CR80 card size.
    • High precision cutting tools are used to ensure dimension accuracy, which is critical for compatibility with card readers and printers.
  5. Printing:
    • Cards are printed with customized designs using direct thermal or thermal transfer card printers.
    • Printing techniques are chosen based on the required design complexity and durability.
  6. Data Encoding:
    • Specific data is encoded onto the MIFARE Ultralight C chip as per customer requirements.
    • Encoding includes setting up the cryptographic keys and specifying access commands for data protection.

Quality Control Process:

  1. Material Inspection:
    • Initial inspection of PVC/PET sheets for defects or inconsistencies.
    • Ensuring materials meet industry standards before production begins.
  2. Chip Functionality Testing:
    • Each MIFARE Ultralight C chip is tested for functionality before embedding.
    • Tests include verifying 3DES authentication and data access commands.
  3. Compliance Testing:
    • Cards are checked to ensure full compliance with ISO/IEC 14443 A 1-3 and NFC Forum Type 2 Tag standards.
    • Verification of the anti-collision support and 106 Kbit/s communication speed.
  4. Antenna Quality Control:
    • Ensuring proper connectivity between the antenna and the embedded chip.
    • Minimizing signal loss and ensuring consistent read/write capabilities.
  5. Durability Testing:
    • Cards undergo mechanical stress tests to ensure they can withstand regular usage without degradation.
    • Assessing the durability of the cards, including the ability of the chip to perform after 10,000 single write operations.
  6. Final Inspection:
    • Comprehensive inspection of the final product, including visual checks for print quality and physical defects.
    • Testing encoded data to ensure it matches requirements and confirming the unique 7-byte serial number accuracy.
  7. Batch Testing:
    • A specific number of cards from each batch undergo additional tests to assure batch consistency.
    • Cards are tested in real-world scenarios to ensure functionality in intended applications like mass transit systems, event management, and loyalty programs.

Through stringent production processes and rigorous quality control measures, the MIFARE Ultralight C cards are produced to meet high standards of performance, reliability, and security, ensuring their efficacy in diverse applications.
